About the Team:

The team is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing new partnerships to surround and fortify our core content business. We set strategy, oversee all aspects of existing partnerships (e.g. content acquisition/investment/monetization), and strive to cultivate new relationships and revenue streams.

About the Role:

As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for ensuring Crunchyroll is forging the most innovative and impactful partnerships and ventures to maintain Crunchyroll’s leadership position in the industry. A strategic approach to partnerships and fostering strong relationships at all levels from manager to president will be key. While crafting larger, more integrated partnerships with existing strategic accounts, you will also be responsible for sourcing new relationships across the broader media industry targeting partners such as production and gaming studios, IP owners and publishers, creative talent, broadcasters, digital platforms and more.

Life of our Business Development team:

  • Leading all aspects of key partnerships:

  • Setting strategy for these relationships; oversee all aspects of key partnerships.

  • Proactively building productive communications with partners by identifying and communicating priorities, progress and useful information.

  • Developing new business ideas and maximizing our monetization opportunities with new and existing partners.

  • Generating leads, understanding competitors’ positions, and identifying new opportunities to ensure Crunchyroll maintains its leadership position.

  • Proactively seek and secure new partnerships with content licensors, production committees, IP owners, publishers, studios, talent, gaming companies, etc. to grow new areas of business and deepen our connection within the industry.

About You:

  • Has senior-level business development and/or licensing experience with strong industry relationships.

  • Highly strategic and creative problem solver with strong analytical and business problem-solving skill.

  • Proven ability to develop, analyze and assess business opportunities.

  • Advanced negotiation and creative deal-making skills.

  • Able to build deals and partnerships that go beyond simply proposing the biggest financial offer.

  • Shown ability to quickly gain in-depth understanding/knowledge of a partner’s business, organizational structure, business processes and financial structure.

  • Excellent persuasive presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Risk taker, willing to generate and advocate for new ideas and new ways of doing business.

  • Proven experience maintaining relationships at the Executive level.
